The impact of the various technology tools you encounter on the teaching and learning process
There are multiple impacts of technology tools both good and bad. As with every thing there are advantages and disadvantages of technology. The advantages are that technology can reap good reward in a class. Technology gets students interest, have them participate more which in turn helps them to perform better, both with behavior and school work. The disadvantages are that it may cause distraction during the lesson if it isn't used properly, students may also use this an opportunity to act out and try to disrupt other students.
The relevance of having knowledge of the different technology related learning theories
Having knowledge of the different technology related learning styles is extremely relevant as teachers need to know what technology best suits each learning style. Knowing this a teacher can bring out the best in each student. Having knowledge of each technology and how they relate to each learning style can make students more interested in class which will get them to participate.
Connectivism is "a learning theory for the digital age," and has been developed by George Siemens and Stephen Downes based on their analysis of the limitations of behaviorism, cognitivism, and how we learn. Donald G Perrin, Executive Editor of the International Journal of Instructional Technology and Distance Learning and says the theory "combines relevant elements of many learning theories, social structures, and technology to create a powerful theoretical construct for learning in the digital age." The importance of technology integration in the teaching/learning process
"There is a growing body of
evidence that technology integration positively affects student achievement and
academic performance. The
Center for Applied Research in Educational Technology (CARET) found that, when used in
collaborative learning methods and leadership that is aimed at improving the
school through technology planning, technology impacts achievement in content
area learning, promotes higher-order thinking and problem solving skills, and
prepares students for the workforce."
The IMS (Instructional Management System) this speaks to multiple intelligence and the best way of dealing with multiple intelligence. All the ways that the IMS says brings out or best suits the the different intelligence are based on technology.
